Enhancing the Economy

For whatever reason lately, I'm in the shopping mood. Clothing, video games, etc. Amaz0n has become my best friend when it comes to Wii game bargains. :-) My favorite lately is Rayman Raving Rabbids (TV edition) it is hilarious--especially when played in groups. I love the fact it uses the Wii balance board too!

I also bought DDR, but haven't taken the time to really try it out yet. I have the feeling I may be in for a work-out with that one.

I'm now wanting to get some furniture for the living room, a wardrobe for the bedroom, and an iRobot for the floors. We'll see how far I get, but it would be great to have a place for visitors to sit other than our old futon. :-) Not to mention a place to store my new clothes, other than the bedroom next door. The iRobot is a complete luxury, especially since Tim ends up sweeping the floors more than I do... Actually, it could be a good thing if I did get an iRobot, he might appreciate the extra help.

All is well

My tests came back with great results. I'm in what's considered the normal range for my thyroid, however my Dr wants my level down even more, but other than that, things are good. Thankfully my body doesn't think it's time fore menopause yet.

We spent last week with a 15 year old and had such a blast! It was so nice to have someone young in the house. Even if she did beat most of our Wii scores! We went shopping with my friend E last weekend as well. It was great to get out and have some girl time.

I really hope the IVIG and blood thinners work the first time out. I'm encouraged the other tests look good. Now I just need to get my thyroid down a bit more before we take the next step.

Pressure Release

I talked to some family members today, and it was mentioned that there's only going to be one girl in our family. The last time this happened, it was saddening. This time I don't mind as much. Everyone in my family assumes we're too old to have kids, and that we've given up. I no longer try to explain otherwise.

In a way it's a good thing. There's no pressure. No one asks us when we're going to have kids anymore. It's assumed we aren't. It also means I don't have a huge support ring for when we do get pregnant, but it will definitely be a surprise for everyone when things work.

I did a lot of surrogate searching over the weekend. I found a couple that looked like they could be a good fit. I need to take my tests and talk to my Dr. If my tests look good egg quality wise, I will likely go through another round of IVF. (With the blood thinners to prevent clotting, and IVIG to suppress my immunity.) If it doesn't work, I may explore the surrogate option for whatever embryo's I have left. If the tests are bad, I may need to explore the surrogate option earlier.

So I have a plan, let's just hope my relatives are wrong about us being too old.

Res0lve

We went out for Chinese food last night, and tried to find something on the 300+ TV channels we get. Nothing. We fell asleep by 9:00 pm, only to be woken up at midnight by a house shuddering boom! ~Someone in the neighborhood must have had fireworks, it was CLOSE!

It's hard to believe I started this blog in 2005 to cover my infertility. I managed to adopt some cats, and meet some great people along the way, but still haven't had much success on the baby front.

As we move into another year, we are ready again for more testing, and another try. However since the clock is ticking, we are seriously discussing gestational surrogacy as another alternative. The IVIG and immunity suppression concerns me, since it's so new, and there are no guarantees that my body won't reject the embryo even with the treatments, and the cost of IVIG therapy isn't cheap. So we're discussing a surrogate (which also provides no guarantees). I was surprised at the amount of bad press out there regarding surrogacy! It's a lot to think about... and this is how my 2009 begins.
