Beautifully Broken

There is an "I am Beautiful" group that is taking over the blogosphere.  It's a great concept, and I am surprised at how many absolutely gorgeous women don't realize how beautiful they are.

I was also surprised at all of the people who said that motherhood is often a cause of their poor self image.   Once again I felt all alone.

Lack of motherhood can be just as devastating (or more).  When your body fails you on this most important level, reproduction, when everyone else seems to be having children and your body won't or can't, for whatever reason.

Do you let these mothers know how lucky they are to have children, and all of the scars and sags that come with them?  Or are you like me and stay silent?

I have also been surprised these are the same women who say "I make beautiful babies".  The beauty obviously came from SOMEWHERE?!?  It just seems like such a strange comment to say.  I guess it's good to be proud of your accomplishments, but really?  Perhaps I'm just jealous that I can't.

So here's my interpretation of the Beautiful group.  I don't feel comfortable holding up the sign for myself, but like the "You are Beautiful" signs that stand as a reminder that everyone is  beautiful, in their own sometimes broken, but perfect way.
