Well, no news from the clinic that's closest to our home. I even left a message on their voicemail yesterday. The answering machine said someone would get back to me in 30 minutes. (that was over 24 hours ago)
Perhaps it's because I filled out my age on their online form, or they are just too overwhelmed with their radio ads, or they are not competent. It's beginning to look like they take younger clients, so their results are better and so the "bring home a baby" special actually produces a baby and they can keep their fees.
It wasn't a complete loss, the time I spent on hold waiting to talk to the answering machine was rather amusing. Most of it was spent listening to long silent pauses that were sprinkled with sporadic marketing messages. It would be completely quiet, then all of a sudden it would loudly interrupt the silence with "visit us online... our website is a great way to answer any questions you may have... be sure to fill out our contact us form, and we'll contact you right away" or my favorite "we have over 100 years of experience combined". So do they have 100 employees with a year each? or 50 with 2 years? How is that supposed to make me feel comfortable? The first test tube baby happened only 31 years ago! For that matter, I could say we've been trying to conceive for a combined total of 20 years. It's not really a strong selling point as far as I'm concerned. Apparently the combined experience doesn't include returning phone calls or answering web inquiries.
In a way, I'm rather relieved they haven't called, as it makes our decision much easier. The clinic that's further away, is very responsive, and the best part is they do email quite well. Which makes it easier on me. I am almost excited as we move closer in the process. I have a few preliminary tests to take this week, and then a financial consult on Thursday. I could almost start this month, but don't quite think I'll have everything lined up in time. At least we're moving forward.
