Alarming

During the workdays my alarm goes off at 6:00 am so I can get up and get ready for work. With the days getting shorter, the sky is starting to seem quite dark when the alarm goes off, and it's getting harder to drag myself out of bed on the cold/dark 6 am mornings.

Weekends are my time to sleep in. I figure I'll catch up on some much needed shut-eye, and will awaken when the sun is high enough in the sky to warm the air up a bit. Which in theory should leave me refreshed and ready to start the day.

Unfortunately, our cat has an internal clock that can not be fooled by the darkness. If I'm not up by 6:30 he meows pathetically, and does everything he can to get us up.
  • Go in the forbidden kitchen and open the cabinet doors to let them slam shut? No problem!
  • Claw the scratching post at the end of the bed, and then walk around the bed and meow increasing the volume as he stomps around? Sounds great!
  • Extend razor sharp claws and 4-wheel up the side of our quilt to stomp on top of us with all his might, and then sniff your ear!?! Even better as far as the cat patrol is concerned!
  • Work on opening the closet door, and then once that noisy process is accomplished, go in and clink the coat hangers? Why not?
He has food and water, he just wants company when he gets up. He LOVES being with his people, and when we're not up and he thinks we should be, then watch out!

So I was up before 7 yet again today. Now that I'm wide awake, the cat is worn out, he feels that he's done his job, and he's now back in bed sleeping with Tim!
