The Cure
Saturday through Monday we relaxed in sunny So Cal. My friend's apartment has a view of the ocean, and steps similar to the steep steps of the pyramid at Chichen Itza. The view from their large deck is absolutely gorgeous and worth the trek up the five steep flights of stairs.
"A" calls our diet "The Cure" after a show she saw on some of the evilest women in history and one who "cured" her patients with a broth diet in which "the cure" was death. I guess she ended up "curing" herself as well. We thought that was hilarious (the name, not the woman) and have officially adopted it as the name of our broth based diet.
This weekend we took a break from "the cure" since we were on vacation, and have been doing quite well up to this point. Saturday morning we found a GREAT bagel shop and had the most amazing 4-cheese bagels ever! They came right out of the oven, and had a crisp "crust" of cheese that had pooled around the bagels while baking. They were AWESOME! We got our nails done, and then headed to the ocean to drink a glass of wine on the pier. Saturday night we went out to the Crab shack for some awesome crab nachos and the hugest platter of shrimp I've ever seen! (Not to mention gigantic glasses of Lynchburg Lemonade!)
Sunday found us back at the bagel shop and later wine tasting with a group at a cute wine bar. We had the best brie and bread plate at a local restaurant, they served it with a delicious jalapeno-cranberry relish. We are definitely going to make some!
We spent a lot of time with my friends baby "M' as well. She's turning one in a few weeks and is absolutely adorable! Every morning her face would light up with a huge smile when she saw me, and she would crawl over to me to be held. It was so sweet! I used to see them every week before they moved to Ventura, and it was great to see them again, and to know "M" hadn't forgotten me! It was a wonderfully relaxing weekend. (not to mention much needed). It was hard to leave on Monday and go back to the real world of work and house hunting! (We plunged right into the house hunt as soon as we got back into town!) Hopefully I'll have good news to post on that front soon!
