Missing the dog

This morning we made the mistake of trying to sleep in. Last weekend while watching the dog, things were just too busy to even think about sleeping in. It was a fun weekend, as the black cat decided that the dog was ok to play with, even if they played very differently. They had a blast in the back yard hiding from each other, running around the house, or just hanging out. Anytime someone came to the door, two black streaks ran towards to greet the visitor in tandem.

The only time it became VERY clear that they didn't communicate well was when Sable got REALLY excited about something and would bark. The cat's eyes would get HUGE and they would look at her as if she were from another galaxy.

The princess cat was smart enough to know the black little mop was a dog even when it didn't bark, and she tolerated it. Our black cat, fell in love with this new playmate. He was so sad the dog was gone on Monday, he looked around the house meowing for his friend. It was pretty sweet, and encouraging that they got along so well.

So back to this week when we tried to sleep in. "Mr. Scratchy" came back to haunt us. Telling us it's 6:20...time to get up. The cat was busy meowing and scratching at the bedroom door...he NEEDED us up to play with him. He finally enticed the other cat to play with him and we managed to get some much needed rest. During that time the cats had a heyday on their own. When we got up, the shower curtain was outside the tub, the cocoa bean shower scrub was in the tub with the bath mat, there were pillows scattered all over the couch with a strategically placed catnip mouse under one of them... The cats apparently had a blast.
