Cat Scratch Feaver

It amazes me how two cats can completely exhaust you. I think it's in part to the fact one is a bit psycho. This one is a sweetheart, she is very cat-like. She chirps when she talks to you, sleeps quietly in the bed with you, has wonderful litter box manners, and is all around a very good cat. (Yes she has her bad habits, but she's smart enough to do them when you're not looking.) She's still work with the feeding, grooming, claw trimming, bathing, and litter box duties, but she is very clean and doesn't cause much, if any, collateral damage.

The black devil on the other hand is more like a dog. Even though he has a cat playmate, he MUST be with his humans. Sometimes it's sweet, like how he must sit on your lap and keep you warm if you are in the bathroom, or how he is waiting at the door for you when you come home, or how he INSISTS to lay on you or right next to you to keep you company.

Unfortunately, he is far from the clean, delicate one, especially when in the litter box. He attacks the litter like a dog digging a hole to bury a bone, no matter what is in his way, he just plows through it. I don't know how we'll ever break him of that one. I did buy a "state-of-the-art" automatic litter box that looks like "Kenny's" head, but I have to rig up a closet for it as he shoots litter out of the opening like it's a blow-hole!

Due to the fact he tends to collect"presents" on his feet after he has dug to China, we aren't letting him into our bedroom. This is fine with him until about 4:00 when he decide he's lonely, and starts scratching on our bedroom door to be let in. He's persistent, but we're adamant. Unfortunately these early morning scratching sessions have made us both exhausted! Hopefully he'll start getting better litter habits so he can have full access to the house again. Too bad the princess can't give him pointers.

The princess cat understands the banishment isn't from anything she has done. She takes dibs on her favorite sleeping area, and calls it a night. She usually gets kicked off the bed anyway, because at some point in the night "Mr. Scratchy" always decides to attack her because he doesn't like sharing his humans or his bed.

---Update: the day after I posted this, "Mr. Scratchy" didn't scratch the door once. He now does it on occasion but isn't 1/2 as bad as he was.
