So I have started researching adopting a cat from a shelter or "foster home" in my area. I learned that black cats are one of the least adopted cats around! Which surprises me, as I think they look like sleek panthers and are totally gorgeous. Torties and calico's, tabbies, and orange cats also seem to be adopted less. There are thousands of cats in my area that could use a loving home, so I've moved my focus to finding a cat that fits my "purrsonality".
By now Tim is tired of the whole process, and thinks I'm obsessing too much. (Just like my focus on trying for a baby of our own.) But to me this is a major decision, as I will have the cat I choose for it's life time which could be 15 years or more.
I called our landlady and she didn't say no right away, but she has to think about it. So I'm waiting for a call back. It sucks when you don't own your house and have to rely on others to decide what you can and can't do. She did say, if we get a cat, (just one) we won't be able to replace the 20 plus year old carpeting, which is discouraging. (It seems as if it isn't one thing, it's another.) The house is old, and we've taken great care of it, as well as made as many improvements as possible in the seven+ years we've lived there. It didn't make sense that we could only have one cat, and couldn't replace the carpeting if we got one. I think old carpeting could handle two cats, especially since I don't
foresee them
damaging it to begin with.
I have found one with

the most gorgeous green eyes, but he is bonded with another cat, and they don't want to separate them. I think it's a good idea, since I'm often away @ work during the day as it would keep him from feeling lonely. Hopefully she'll warm up to not only letting us have a cat, but to allow me to get two.
~~ Update!~~ 03/11/07 Well, it looks like we won't be getting new carpet anytime soon, BUT we can get a cat and a if needed "cat's cat" as well. :-)
