Life

I talked to my Grandmother this morning. She's still really clear and lights up when I call, but she is trying to prepare herself to move on. Part of me wants to go home and be with her, while the other wants to remember the good times we've had, since I know at this point there is nothing I can do to help her, she needs to find something to live for. She is on "Comfort Care" which means the doctor's are not even treating the pneumonia, and that makes it even harder for me to understand why my Mom and her siblings aren't doing more.

My brother and his wife will be here tomorrow, it was planned that they visit weeks ago, so I am going through the motions of getting the house ready for them, it's really hard to focus though.

I am also starting my cycle for the FET this week. I will start using Letr0zole on Saturday. Of course I didn't order it in time, so I will get a $12 delivery charge, but it's still cheaper than trying to buy the medicines here.

I'm SO sorry about your grandmother. Hubby and I are having the same issues with his. Initially we thought it'd be good to put her in a nursing home. But she wants to live out her days at home, that's fine. But no one wants to take any responsibility in getting her a good caretaker. Hubby and I did stay with her for awhile but we had limited control and eventually had to leave. (They wouldn't get a decent care person in there so we were doing all the work and working and getting no help. I had a mental breakdown.) So now we're taking her out to lunch every Sunday, but still...I just can't help but feel aggravated with society in general, especially family, in how they treat the elderly.

Thank you. I agree society/family can be very messed up when it comes to taking care of their elders. It's frustrating when you have limited control and no help! I think I would have had a breakdown too! It sounds like your Hubby's Grandmother is very lucky she has you both, I bet she loves her Sunday lunches with you.
