Easter Events

We had a rainy stay-indoors-with-the-dog Easter. It was nice though. I didn't even attempt to make eggs for breakfast after my hot egg fiasco, we had pancakes with Iowa maple syrup. We didn't even do an Easter dinner this year! Instead we had pizza that evening!

I guess the Easter / Birthday party at my Aunt's went well. I'm glad I didn't go back though, it would have just been to crazy trying to cram everything in. I called my Grandma today to wish her a happy birthday. She's such a sweetie, and we're a lot alike in many areas. She baked a special "Bear" cake using one of her bear shaped copper cake molds, just in case someone stopped by. My mom went up to see her, and they sat on the front porch to enjoy the sunny day and see who might be coming to visit.

I ended up deciding on sending Gramie something she could plant, so I had the florist make up a basket containing a lavender Rhododendron, a nice green and dark Burgundy house plant, and some pussy willows so she can enjoy them all year. (In Iowa pussy willows are one of the first signs of spring...I used to call them willy pussels) I guess the flowers were the surprise of her day, as she only had two visitors this year. (My mom and a family friend.) They had cake and ice cream and looked through some photos that my Great Aunt had of us when we were little. Gramie said she did receive a lot of cards though. It's hard to believe she's 95 years young! Happy Birthday Gramie!!!
